Hogwarts Student Application
[/u][/center]-About You-
Your Screen Name: James Potter
Account Notes: Global Moderator
How You Found Us: I came over from the old site.
-Above the Surface-
Character Name: James Sirius Potter
Nicknames: None as of Now
Character Age: 18
Birth Date: September 8th, 2004
Character Gender: Male
Character Blood Status: Half-Blood
Character Appearance:
- Physical Features: James has a fairly strong stature and a solid build, yet he still appears fairly lithe. He weighs around two hundred pounds, but it's pure muscle in his 6'31/2" frame. He has his father's skin tone and jet-black hair, though he is more successful in fighting with it to keep it tidy.
- Facial Features: His eyes match those of his mother's with their soft chocolate appearance, though the rest of his face has a distinct strong look to it. Though strong in appearance, it also has a slightly soft feel though it can become extremely fierce very quickly.
- Clothing: On top of his standard school robes and quidditch robes, He owns a couple of sets of robes that look like standard robes, but are designed for comfort, especially when exercising including charms to repel liquids and temperature control. His muggle clothes are a combination of jeans and t-shirts and oddly enough, casual suits.
- Accessories: Firebolt - gift from parents for being accepted onto the Gryffindor team
Marauder's Map - Stole it from his father's possession before his third year, his father simply believes he misplaced it or put it away into storage
Album - has some copies of photos of his grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts and his friends and family during his time in Hogwarts.
Diary - Its contents are unknown and it is obvious to see when someone has attempted to force it to reveal it's contents due to a unique combination of nasty hexes on them. - Overall Summary: James is fairly tall with a solid build to himself, but has a good natured appearance that is accentuated by an appearance of strength. His chocolate brown eyes and smile are among his most distinctive looks, followed by jet black hair that's usually a little untidy. He is often seen during school running in the early morning in robes that appear to be a little odd, though the viewer can't quite put their finger on it.

Character Personality: James has been called a loose cannon before, though it is partially true as he tends to act before most people are done thinking things through. While he isn't the most book smart of people, he is extremely quick when learning things and tends to excel in the application of knowledge rather than the written portions of class. He is generally a thoughtful person, though when angered he is a force to be reckoned with. He is almost to protective of his family and friends and is one of the more energetic people you will meet.
He seems to have inherited the sense of humor of his uncle George's sense of humor, but doesn't joke around as much and tends not to be anywhere near as insulting toward members of the Slytherin house. He thinks quickly and adapts to the situation as if it was natural and tends to find himself undaunted in situations most others avoid. When a friend or family member is in danger he doesn't tend to remain where he is even if told to, but instead goes out and tries to help. He is sometimes accused of being stubborn.
Public Personality: James tends to be the one that is either getting into trouble, getting out of trouble, getting other's out of trouble or some combination of the three. He is usually very nice to people whether they deserve it or not, though it is know that he will hold a grudge until he repays someone for whatever it was that they did. He is known to be adept at magic, and very smart and a respectable player at Wizard's Chess. He is one of those people that will stop what he is doing to help you out if he can, usually with a joke or two to fit the situation.
Private Personality: Around his friends he tends to be more laid back and doesn't joke around as much. He tries to do what he can to keep his friends entertained and would do almost anything for them. He opens up more than he does normally, but it is to be noted he still seems to be hiding a small part of himself. He also lets his closest friends occasionally help him when he practices magic beyond where they are in class letting them know just how focused on making his own name he is. When alone he is usually attempting to do things to push himself beyond his limits, whether physical or magical, by exercising or doing advanced level magic
Character Goals: (This should be at least one paragraph long describing your characters overall goal.) James wants to stop being thought of as the son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley and be respected for his own achievements. He is between wanting to be an Auror like his father, a professor at Hogwarts and has received a tempting offer to join a professional quidditch team. Overall he isn't even sure if he wants to do any of them though, and is still searching for something that grabs his attention enough that he will be happy doing that as a job.
Character Likes: Chess, chocolate, advanced magic, pushing his limits
Character Dislikes: anyone who threatens/harms his friends/family, overly laziness, bookwork, feeling as if he can't do anything to help

History: (Your history needs to be at least three paragraphs long. That 4-5 sentences each. Add as many details as possible.) James was born and named after his grandfather and his father's godfather in 2004. He had very few cousins who were older than him at this time, though that didn't last very long. A short year later and he had a younger brother, Albus, and two years after that he had a little sister, Lily. Over these few years the number of cousins he had increased quickly. As expected, he received a letter to Hogwarts and celebrated that birthday on the first day of classes.
Though he was skilled at Quidditch like his parents, he was unable to join the team his first year like most students and strived to become even better to secure a spot the next year. He was successful and started off as a Chaser and did well as one and learned some tricks from his mother. Due to a growth spurt and a seventh year leaving the team, he was shuffled over to become keeper for his third year and managed to do a decent job there as well as gaining some favor with his uncle Ron. He remained as keeper for his fourth year only to move over to become a beater for his fifth year due to his physical strength and another seventh year leaving the team. Though strong, he was also light keeping his speed higher than most other beaters, but an injury occurred near the end of that year and he was moved yet again to the position of Seeker for the last game and managed to catch the snitch tieing up the game which kept Slytherin from wining the cup that game. During the rematch he once again showed a proficiency for this position as well and barely won the game to win the cup by catching the snitch again. Since he was skilled at that position and the injured seeker graduated, he was allowed to stay for his sixth year as Seeker. Now in his Seventh year, he probably one of the most well rounded players in Europe that isn't already on a professional team and has had a couple offer to join teams after he finishes school.
As for classes, he has done fairly well in all he has taken despite how little he likes bookwork. Though his application of the magic is excellent, he has somehow managed to even do well in arithmacy despite the lack of actual application. This is most likely due to practicing what he has learned and read ahead about and incorporating the Arithmacy. He even was given a time turner during his sixth and third years of class by the ministry to assist his lessons, however they removed it from his possession the second time due to his uses of it to learn magic that was considered well beyond his level. Even so he pushes on and continues to test his limit whenever he has a free moment and will be found on a daily basis running around the grounds of Hogwarts in the early morning or though the woods around his house when school is out. As he is now in his seventh year at school, he is still trying to decide what he wants to do with his life and is trying to come up with a solution to his problem that will allow him to make his own name and be happy doing so.
As he grew up he was in constant contact with his Weasley relatives and the Lupins. He also had to endure the Dursleys which he absolutely dreaded to do when he was younger. As he grew older the visits began to bother him less and less and now he doesn't really mind them all that much. After his siblings had entered the school with him he began to act as their protector and for the most part has done so without their knowledge and even though he tends to do things that get him into trouble he does his best to keep his siblings and friends out of it when he can even if its dangerous or causes him to receive undeserved blame. Luckily for him, sometimes everything is simple written off as one of his jokes gone wrong.

Roleplay Sample: I'm using one of my roleplays from the old site with this character:
(I am going to double post, but it would be too weird if I didn't. The first post will be the papers James has come up with and written in preparation, and the second will be the actual post. i am doing this as it would be very long, and shift very quickly and I can reply better if I don't keep it as one as I will refer to parts of this post in weird ways.)

Study| Assist | Study| Assist|Study| Off | Off
This is a rough schedule I came up with, I
think it may work if repeated. I would ask for
holidays off, as most professors and all the
students get the off, and believe I would
enjoy them off as I plan on my schedule being
more work intensive this way.

Requests
I do not think it would fair of me to be included
in a house, and able to earn and lose house
points for an extra year. I would like to become
excluded from the point system altogether. I
would also like to have a small, single bed room
that may have a desk and bookshelf for my use.
If possible, I would like it to be somewhere near
the library as I plan to work there for a lot of the
time I would be here next year. It would also give
me a place to work on projects, such as
complicated potions or advanced transfiguration.
If I could obtain a room, I would like to be able
to change the password as needed. I would also
like to retain access to the Gryffindor common
room as I have many friends that will still be here
next year, and I wouldn't mind occasionally having
a little fun with them or helping them with some of
their homework like I currently do. I wouldn't
mind a seat at the staff table either, since it may
look like I am showing favoritism to certain houses
if I eat with them each day. I would also like certain
privileges above those of normal students, such as
no curfew as I tend to like to see through some of
my studies, or finish a book I am almost done with
and have been stopped by said curfew. I would also
like access to a more secluded bathing area so I do
not have to wait to get through the. I would also like
the ability to give or take house points, as it will
allow me to retain respect and attention when I am
doing a lesson or demonstration for a class if I have
some method that follows the rules to punish them
if they break rules, or reward them if they do well in
the lessons for that day. I would also like access to
the restricted section in the library whenever I may
need to without having to go through any process
that may make the information I am searching for
useless by the time I get to it. Now that I have
thought about it a little, if I do get a room, could I
have a study are that has a few shelves, and a little
room, maybe a couple of tables and cabinets for
brewing and storing potions and ingredients?

Dueling Group Proposal
Your daughter and I have been throwing back and
forth an idea to start a group that focused on how
to duel, and different ways to battle using magic.
Not that my father doesn't teach that, but in a real
fight one can't count on the opponent to follow the
rules out of courtesy or respect. I think that a group
that teaches students how to protect themselves in
such situations would be a good idea. At first we had
planned to ask my father to sit in as we ran it so we
had a teacher nearby if something we couldn't handle
cropped up, and to occasionally teach a few tricks that
wouldn't normally be taught in his class. To get more
of a balance, we had also planned on asking my
mother and you to do the same so we got a wider
perspective and different methods to what we would
be trying to teach. We wanted this to be sanctioned
by the school, and would like a room that we could
use. As to the schedule, we wanted to adapt it to
fit around most quidditch matches, and other large
events, but we can probably work that out on our own.
I was thinking that this group could become my
pet project that I could be the official head of if I am
allowed back next year. This would keep it from having
a classroom feel, and allow my father to be able to
have these nights off and not have to take up any
extra duties because of it. We really don't mind if you
feel the need not to alert the ministry to this, as they
tend to shoot down most of the good and useful ideas.

James took one last look at the three pieces of parchment before rolling them up. He slid them into his pocket and arrived at the entrance of the headmaster’s office and took a small breath. He couldn’t remember if Kristina had sad the password was still ‘cauldron cakes’ or not, and he knew it didn’t really matter. It would open for him once it got close enough to seven because he was expected. However, James was twenty minutes early and he knew it wouldn’t open for him yet. He had to wait now, and in that time he collected his thoughts into a focused, goal-driven mode.
About five to seven he watched the staircase open up, and he stepped calmly on it and stood as it took him up to the door to the headmaster’s office. This was it, James would find out whether he could spend the next year in the school he had grown to love and call home. He politely knocked on the door and waited for a reply. He wanted to at least show that he was prompt, if nothing else, not that he was usually late to anything. Well, anything that he knew would involve large amounts of mental pain.
