Harry's scar had not hurt in twenty-five years. All was well.
Twenty-five glorious years had passed. At the hands of the Wizarding World, Voldemort was defeated and would no longer threaten the world around them anymore. He was long gone and now just a memory in which people didn't have to fear. The newfound children of the Wizarding World could start a new life, void of the dangers and troubles that the past generation had to endure. With Voldemort gone, everything could finally return to normal, to a time where no one had to fear the Dark Lord, where no one had to worry that they would drop dead at a given moment. For now, everything would be okay again. Everything would return to normal, with high hopes of a happier and brighter future.
With Voldemort gone, the trio, that is to say Harry, Ron, and Hermione had their own set of plans for their future. Out of the three of them, Hermione was the only one of which would return to Hogwarts to finish out her seventh year. Once out of Hogwarts however, Hermione takes up her first job working in the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Here she greatly improved lives for house elves. In later years, Hermione moves to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and assists in eradicating oppressive pro-pureblood laws. Within those nineteen years she became happily married to Ron Weasley, soon afterward they gave birth to Rose and Hugo.
Harry on the other hand had bigger plans, managing to follow through with his goal of becoming and Auror. Here he worked for a while before he was promoted to head of the department. Shortly before this however, Harry Potter became happily engaged and married to one Ginny Weasley. Though, with the defeat of Lord Voldemort, it didn't take long for Harry to notice just one thing he was no longer able to do. Having no connections to Voldemort anymore, Harry lost the ability to speak Parseltongue. Granted, this was one ability he didn't mind losing, so it wasn't so much a loss to him as a reward. It wouldn't be but a few years after Voldemort's defeat before Ginny gave birth to their three darling children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna.
Ron on the other hand was the only one who did not start his job at the Ministry of Magic. Instead, Ron took up a job working with George at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes to help his eldest brother. Granted, it wasn't too long after he took up this job before he switched and assisted Harry by becoming an Auror as well. Shortly after this though, Ron becomes married to one Hermione Granger. Together the two bore Rose and Hugo.
Neither Remus Lupin or Nympharora Tonks were lost in the battle that raged on with Voldemort. The two of them managed to survive unharmed and able to take care of their eldest son Teddy as well as give birth to two darling others: Kaius and Kristina Lupin. Tonks continued her job as an Auror, and Remus Lupin, well with the help of Kingsley Shacklebolt, who became the new Minister of Magic, lands the job of Headmaster at Hogwarts.
As a side project from her normal work, Luna Lovegood began to investigate the voices she had heard through the Veil that Sirius had been pushed into by a curse. It took many years, but eventually she began to figure out what it was beyond a portal between the living world and the world of the dead. Though that knowledge did little good since using the portal meant ending one's life. But there was something about the voices that continued to intrigue her and muse her continue to study it in her spare time. Finally she thought she understood what the voices were saying and called Remus Lupin to assist her since he was one of the few she felt she could trust with her theory. When he arrived and heard the theory he agreed to help her with her plan and they began to work complex magic on the Veil.
It wasn’t but months after the test on the Veil started before it came to an abrupt halt. Quickly finding something out of the normal wrong with the Veil, all spells were put off so that Lupin could investigate it. As he approached the Veil however, what he found walking out of the Veil was someone that up until that point he believed to have been dead. Appearing from behind the Veil - as though by some lick of magic- came Sirius Black.
Mysterious questions were brought up between Luna and Lupin, however they had to push all questions off for a time as Lupin took Sirius in to care for him. For a while, Sirius’ sudden arrival was hidden from Harry, as though this would help loosen the pain he would feel toward his Godfather, and for the fact that if Harry knew any sooner, he would drop everything he was doing in order to come to the rescue. Though, when it was time to confront Harry about this ordeal, he didn’t take it as good as they had hoped he would, but all the same he was better then what they could have expected, or what anyone else could have expected from him.
It wasn’t but a year after Sirius’ sudden entry back into the human world before he agreed to become the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. And given the fact that all charges against him had dropped, it gave him a great deal more credit then what a great few Wizards wanted to give him in the past.
Seemingly, everything has returned to normal for just about everyone. For a short while things were going as planned for just about every Wizarding family. Though as the story goes, all good things must come to an end.
For the most part it seemed as though everyone had forgotten about Voldemort's chosen Death Eaters. Granted, a few of them were sentenced to Azkaban. There were however still those that lurked around even after the defeat of the Dark Lord himself. With Voldemort gone, the Death Eaters had no loyalties. They had no one who they had to follow. With Voldemort gone, the lucky ones who had escaped Azkaban could follow their own path. Though between the Death Eaters, there was a huge concern. There were still a few Death Eaters (Five at most) who believed that they could bring back Voldemort with a sacrifice of equal power to himself. Five Death Eaters still wanted the Dark Lord to return, and they knew there was a way to do just that. The other Death Eaters...Well they wanted something more. After the defeat of the Dark Lord, they didn't believe so much that it would be possible to return him. Not after all fragments of his soul had been destroyed. What they wanted was power. They wanted to control the Wizarding World. To do this though, they needed an object of power. Something to give them exactly what they wanted.
And so the two groups went separate ways. Five chosen Death Eaters were on a search and destroy mission. They needed to find a sacrifice equal to Lord Voldemort. They could use that sacrifice to help bring back the Dark Lord. Whereas fifteen other Death Eaters went on another search. Instead of bringing back the Dark Lord, they wanted power far greater then his. They would search for the item which would give them that power. With that power they would rule over all of the Wizarding World. Everyone else would fall at their hands. They needed the powers.
Where does that leave the rest of the Wizarding World? That is up for you to decide. Help choose the faith. Will Voldemort return at the hands of one sacrifice? Will Death Eaters reign over the Wizarding World? Or will everything stay the same, if not better? Find out here at Hogwarts NEXT.
